Audi produced the first all aluminium vehicle the A8 for the luxury car market, closely followed by the Audi A2, another all aluminium model designed for volume production.

Other manufacturers are now also making specialist aluminium cars due to the demand for a greener product.

Comparing the worlds metal resources, aluminium is the most abundant and more environmentally friendly than other metals to recycle.

It is expected that most luxury car manufacturers will turn to aluminium vehicles within the next five years due to public demand for safer, fuel efficient models.

Aluminium the cars of the future!

  • Compared to the vehicles we use today, the new generation aluminium cars will be four times lighter and much stronger than a steel car. When impacted, aluminium absorbs twice the energy compared with steel.
  • The new technology will allow an all aluminium car to have a much smaller engine which, coupled with its lightweight design, could boost fuel efficiency by up to 10%.

Looking to the future there will be greater numbers of aluminium cars produced by different manufacturers increasing demand for Specialist repairer facilities and equipment.

The investment of two enclosed aluminium bays built to stop cross contamination that occurs between steel and aluminium is now complete. Each booth has its own dedicated tooling to carry out the high tech’ repairs to any aluminium structure. There are only 13 Approved Aluminium Bodyshops in the whole of the UK.

Our staff at A.B.Crush have been trained at the Audi factory in Neckarsulm Germany in Audi Space Frame technology and all aspects of aluminium repairs.
